Guest Mode is a fantastic feature designed for anyone looking to manage a Tesla fleet, whether you have a single vehicle or many. It offers a streamlined way for drivers to access vehicles while keeping everything secure and under control.
Getting Started with Guest Mode
To enable Guest Mode, just hop onto your Fleet Dashboard and choose the according action. It will call the Tesla API as you can do yourself with your token
Want to check if Guest Mode is active? Simply try adding or deleting a key from inside the vehicle!
What Can Guests Do?
When a guest unlocks the vehicle or starts driving, they’ll get a friendly prompt to set up a phone key by scanning a QR code displayed on the touchscreen. This access allows them to:
- View the vehicle’s real-time location
- Send remote commands
- Download their Tesla profile to the vehicle
- Use their phone as a key
However, certain driver features, like Service and Roadside Assistance, aren’t available in Guest Mode.
Keeping Your Vehicle Secure
Guest Mode is designed to protect your vehicle’s integrity. Guests won’t be able to:
- Change the vehicle’s name
- Alter keys or PINs for driving
- Modify Speed Limit Mode or Glovebox PIN
- Format the dash cam USB drive
- Erase any user data
If you ever need to clear sensitive information, you can remotely erase user data stored in the vehicle by clicking the shield icon on your Fleet Dashboard and selecting “Erase User Data.” Just a heads-up: this action wipes all profiles and user information, so make sure you’re ready!
How Guest Mode Works
When a guest tries to unlock the vehicle, they’ll be guided through setting up their phone key with a QR code. Here are some important things to know:
- Your vehicle needs to be running firmware 2024.14+ and must be online.
- If a phone key is already connected, the QR code won’t show.
- Only one guest can access the vehicle at a time.
- If someone doesn’t have the Tesla app, they’ll receive a helpful webpage to guide them through the process.
Guest access will be automatically removed if:
- A key card is used to drive the vehicle
- A new QR code is scanned
- Guest Mode is turned off

The Guest Mode feature is available umsonst by all MyTeslaMate users, even if they are not subscribed. Users simply need to log in with their Tesla account to take advantage of this functionality, making it accessible to everyone.
With Guest Mode, managing your Tesla fleet has never been easier, making it accessible for everyone, regardless of how many vehicles you have. Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with secure and controlled access!
